In the “CosmoCromie” project, artist Micaela Lattanzio highlights the profound relationship between the human being and the environment. She does so by inviting us to explore the invisible connections that bind us to the vast natural system surrounding us, creating a bridge between two seemingly distant elements: our inner world and the contemplation of the cosmos.
Each artwork is composed of an intricate suspended mosaic, formed by pin-mounted fragments created through the molecular fragmentation of satellite photographs of the Earth. These fragments are moved by external air currents, giving life to a kinetic artwork that describes “matter” in motion.
Starting from the idea that cosmic space and our inner space are intimately connected, the artist suggests that the immensity of the universe finds its reflection in our inner world, a sensitive connection in which a fusion between human and cosmos coexists, with neither prevailing over the other, but instead engaging in a continuous interaction.
For this reason, when we look at Micaela Lattanzio’s works, we witness the mapping of an intimate and immaterial space that links the viewer to their personal perception of the world. These visual abstractions invite us to consider how our inner landscape is shaped and influenced by the universe itself.
The works, composed of the Earth’s shifting colors, are inspired by the geometry of nature, by cells observed under a microscope, by plate tectonics and sedimentation, evoking the natural cycle and our deep connection to the environment.
