THE RESTLESS NATURE - at the Rome Art in Nuvola fair

Emmeotto Arte Gallery presents a new series of works by Micaela Lattanzio, the result of her ongoing technical evolution, artistic experimentation, and intellectual inquiry that have always defined her practice.

The focus lies on the dynamic force of matter in motion — the vital energy animating our world — composed of uncoded languages and invisible connections that bind us to one another within a cyclical system that leads us back to the natural world.

The body is the dwelling of the self, the space of our perception. Yet, the perimeter of our skin can become the boundary that separates us from the world. The body is, in fact, a plural entity, as its components originate from the same chemical reactions of the matter that surrounds us. This shared process generates an intrinsic and indissoluble bond with nature. To perceive this flow deeply — and to benefit from the harmony it could bring to our lives — we must renew ourselves and look at reality through an unfamiliar lens, abandoning words, pre-established codes, and the rational thought that defines us as “one,” in order to recover contact with our inner multiplicity.

Society has accustomed us to a single, linear vision of the here and now, through systems that organize our existence and confine us to predefined roles. This diminishes the plurality within each individual and dulls our external perceptions — our empathic and sensorial approaches to what lies beyond ourselves.

Only by understanding the multiplicity of Being can we encounter the otherness of the world and re-establish a visceral and profound exchange with nature — one of care rather than exploitation — thus recovering the true dimension of Humanity.

Nature is dynamic and restless; its beauty lies precisely in its unpredictability.

This is what Micaela Lattanzio embodies in her work: she opens herself to the world by initiating a process that begins within ourselves. By crossing the comfort zone that often imprisons us, she releases the Restless Nature of the human spirit — that force which drives us beyond our limits and back to a state of wonder.

The artist explores this very state of wonder: an authentic, layered emotion — unlike the capitalist notion of happiness, which feeds on ephemeral desires. Wonder encompasses a broad emotional range: amazement, surprise, fascination, and above all, the fear that arises when we dare to explore the unknown.

Through her works, we are urged to gaze into our most intricate and agitated inner landscape, to respond to the questions born of our own restlessness, and to become active observers of our lives.

In this sense, the artwork becomes a meditative device that reveals — through visionary landscapes made of fragmented bodies — the infinite possibilities of human feeling.

The pictorial matrix, composed of molecular fragments (deconstructed portraits), thickens and stratifies into natural structures.Quartz, sedimentation, plate tectonics, and microorganisms inspire the compositions, which unfold through the unsettling movement of their elements, forming unprecedented inner landscapes.

It is a journey to be undertaken through the experience of Nature — in its fullness and complexity — in order to develop one’s personality in all its known and unknown facets.
