“The creative power of the mind awakens vividly as it shapes the finite from the infinite.”— Goethe, Howard’s Ehrengedächtnis

Art is the introspective window into our inner world. From this visual and mental image arises the idea for the exhibition opening on Saturday, February 23, at Emmeotto Gallery in Palazzo Taverna.

A window through which each of us can — and must — look, in order to lose and find ourselves again; not to seek meaning at all costs, but to know and enter into synergy with another kind of sensitivity; to trace a backward path toward the essence of an artwork — a medium that amplifies both our own perception and that of the artists, who return to reality more than what they take from it.

A window as a frontier and, at the same time, a space of contact and fusion between truth and imagination, past and future, mind and body — where personal emotional dynamics explore and seek resonance in representation, in a continuous inner movement that never ceases.

The artists’ act of self-narration becomes an emotional journey between inner research and material evolution — a process of birth, discovery, growth, decomposition, and re-creation in new forms. A palingenesis that writes and rewrites a personal diary, element after element, page after page, enriching itself with experience as a theatrical piece deepens through its dialogues.

Each artist in the exhibition lives the creative process in a totalizing way — a kind of necessary catharsis that reveals and unveils, through the singularity of each modus operandi, a different perspective. It allows us to look beyond appearances and to establish an empathy with multiple nuances, one that only our inner world can generate — even more so when we interact with stimuli emerging from diverse languages and forms of expression.

Micaela Lattanzio begins from a photographic investigation, reworking her own images and transforming them into “pictorial” elements. Through a meticulous and meditative process based on the repetition of circular modules, she creates a new whole — a perspective composed of complex architectures that envelop the viewer in emotional suggestion. Whether drawn from natural forms, as in the new diptych Nucleo (2018), or from the human body, her works propose an introspective vision — a surreal, fragmented scenario, a mosaic that generates a third, material and narrative dimension. It moves beyond aesthetics to reflect on the essence and exploration of humanity — on our capacity to perceive and draw psychophysical well-being from the natural forms that surround us.
