"Where is the aesthetic-ontological dimension of finitude rooted, if not in corporeity?"
The question posed by the French philosopher Jean-Luc Nancy reveals, at first glance, the founding element of Micaela Lattanzio's work: the body, an instrument of aesthetic investigation, reveals its cosmic scope, epidermal matter expands to become body heavenly, a privileged instrument that investigates the cosmos.
The work of Micaela Lattanzio develops along a path divided into three chapters that narrate, from room to room, the evolution of the corpus in its form and in its nature.
In the first chapter dedicated to the Fragmenta series, the artist constructs the image of multiple visual configurations through the instrument of fragmentation.
The body expands its range of action swaying in unlimited space. The physiognomies disperse from their own features, weave textures of a new geographical perspective, the pieces of epidermis are recomposed in the mixture of skin, eyelashes, hair, nails in a geometry with organic and social contours.
In this space with unlimited boundaries the artist, deus ex machina, recounts the corpus in its impossible condition: losing its appearance in order to present itself to the gaze as Imago, or as an indecipherable representation that takes place beyond any identity language.
In the second chapter of the exhibition project, the corpus evolves into an extraordinary garden.
Florilegio is the anthological choice of exemplary works, it is a hortus conclusus where the rarest bulbs and the most exotic plants are collected and collected. In the vision of Micaela Lattanzio, florilegio represents the aesthetic summa of the corpus: the skin becomes a petal exhibiting the simultaneity of the cut (already operated in Fragmenta) and of its recomposition contained in the material hedonistic-floral features.
48 stems support anthropomorphic buds, in an architectural semicircle the senses are included within a synaesthetic design: thanks to the intervention of PROFVMVM ROMA, a fragrance creator company, the epidermis buds come to life in their olfactory dimension.
The last chapter reveals the corpus cosmogony: the physiognomic features are only a hidden suggestion, the flesh has become celestial matter, the space takes on a fleeting dimension.
"The vision of a body that oscillates in a cosmic space, similar to a galaxy, and deposits itself in sediments that its own density suffers from touching".
In Nancy's words we find the fulcrum of the representation: the corpus, according to the artist's criterion, is no longer real, but intimately immersed in a transcendent question, or how it is possible to come to light.
In this game triggered by the dialogue between visible and invisible, Micaela Lattanzio deconstructs the figure, forgets the form, disseminates new imaginative configurations to accompany us in the act of looking, which is, ultimately, seeing ourselves.
